Ikat

ginette1223

I'm crazy about Ikat!
It's an ancient resist method, tie-dye technique, in which dye is applied
to yarns before the weaving process. This is what gives it that wavy, blurred effect.

The word "ikat" is translated "to bind".
An odd word to pronounce. Ee-cot. Rhymes with Key-Pot. (How's that for phonetics?)

Ikat originates in Central Asia, Thailand, and the Middle Eastern country of Uzbekistan.

Very trendy in today's design world. I'm ready to add a few splashes of ikat to my life!
